WWE: AJ Lee set for injury storyline?

Football News

Many WWE fans who tuned into Smackdown on Friday night will have seen Paige turn on AJ Lee and attack her for the second time in as many weeks, this time knocking her off the stage and into a camera, apparently causing an injury.

AJ had just beaten Rosa Mendez in record time after she kicked her in the mid-section and applied the Black Widow, forcing the newest member of Total Divas to tap. On her way back up to the ring, Paige attacked and AJ was thrown off the stage and into a camera, apparently knocked out.

Stretchered off

A neck place was then put onto the Divas Champion and she was stretchered out of the arena with the commentary team updating the WWE universe later in the show to say that AJ was taken to a local medical facility.

This was then declared to be a storyline injury after it was used again at a live show this weekend. Paige, Natalya and AJ were all set to fight in a triple threat match for the Divas Championship when AJ was injured merely a minute into the match and helped to the back.

This itself would have looked real, but but as Paige and Natalya continued the match together, Paige hit the ring again and forced her former friend to tap to the Black Widow.

It's unknown how this will add to what has already become a tense rivalry between the two as they build up to an expected clash at SummerSlam. Tonight's Raw should provided more answers about the rivalry as tonight's show in Austin, Texas is the penultimate stop on the road to SummerSlam.

Tonight will also see the rivalry between Stephanie and Brie build ahead of their match at SummerSlam as Nikki's role in the feud could be revealed.

Also tonight, Roman Reigns should respond to to abuse he suffered at the hands of Roman Reigns last night and should decide whether or not to accept a match against The Viper at SummerSlam, whilst Dean Ambrose should also be back after he was missing from last week's show and no explanation was given.Dean Ambrose v Seth Rollins is expected to be announced soon for next weekend's pay-per-view.

Whilst John Cena and Paul Heyman were praised for their promo that opened Raw last week, it's likely Brock will not be at tonight's live show so the duty will again fall to his advocate to add the suspense to the biggest fight of the summer.
