Gary Ballance Diary: We need to start some momentum

It was the perfect Test in terms of our performance at Southampton but we all know we have to get some momentum going here at Old Trafford this week.

We have been playing well in patches before that but we needed a game where we did it all the way through and we managed to do that but it counts for nothing if we can’t back that up here in Manchester.

We are confident and that’s bound to be the case after that performance at Southampton. However, it is only one game so hopefully we can put in another good performance.

I was pleased with my individual performance too even though I did receive a bit of bad luck in both innings. The record book says I was out so it was disappointing but that’s the way it goes.

Sometimes it goes for you and sometimes it doesn’t it’s as simple as that I think it will even itself out so it was disappointing because I felt like I had a few more runs to give but hopefully I can take them into this game.

I’m very pleased with the way I’m going, I feel like it’s going well but I have to keep my feet on the ground. I have to be as greedy to score as many runs as I can and hopefully in the next few days I can get another decent score to put England into a good position.

There were plenty of good performances last week and hopefully we can back that up but it is going to be tough because India will be looking to bounce back but if we start well and build on that then I am confident we can get another victory.
