In talks

It appears, then, that United are closing in on the three Dutch players, who all starred under Van Gaal at this summer's World Cup.

Blind, who can play in midfield and defence, would certainly help United's options, but has also attracted interest from Spanish giants Barcelona, according to the same report. The versatile Dutch star is only 24-years-old, so could improve further under Van Gaal, but could cost as much as £17 million in this window.

Vlaar, meanwhile, who excelled in Brazil, has certainly proven that he can play in the 3-5-2 formation, could cost United as much as £6m, but it remains to be seen as to whether Aston Villa let him depart the club before the start of the new campaign. Both Vlaar and Blind would certainly be welcome additions at the Theatre of Dreams, with the club in need of added options at the back.

And, despite Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman having missed the World Cup through injury, it appears that Van Gaal is still determined to bring the £28m rated star to Old Trafford. The addition of Spanish ace Ander Herrera has certainly helped United in the middle of the park, but United fans will certainly be hoping for one more top name to arrive before the close of the window.

United could be set to spend as much £51m on the trio, but it appears that Van Gaal could look to sign even more players in this market.

Vidal and Hummels

Vidal and Hummels, who have been linked to United for some time, are still reportedly on Van Gaal's radar, according to the Daily Star report. Chilean star Vidal would certainly improve the club's options, but it remains to be seen as to whether Italian giants Juventus would part ways with their prize asset.

Hummels, like Vidal, won't prove easy to land in this window, but United are certainly in need of an experienced world-class central defender to lead them into the up coming season. With the likes of Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling currently competing for places in the club's back-line, United fans will be desperate to see Hummels arrive before the new season.
