Tiote, then, could represent a different option in the middle of the park for Arsenal, as Wenger looks to improve his midfield. With the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Co. plying their trade at the Emirates, it appears that the Arsenal chief is on the lookout for a ball-winning dominant midfielder to help out his crafty stars.

The Newcastle man has certainly proved his credentials in the Premier League in recent seasons, and would do a job sitting in front of the Gunners' back-four. Tiote's presence would allow the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Co prosper in the attacking areas for Wenger's side.

Cheaper option

It appears that Arsenal could now swoop in for Tiote, following recent interest in other top class central-midfielders. The same report has suggested that the Gunners have shown interest in Real Madrid's World Cup winning star Sami Khedira and Portuguese youngster William Carvalho.

However, with Tiote's price set at around £8m, it seems that he could be the more suitable option for Wenger in this transfer window. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, however, doesn't want to lose his vice-skipper, but may have no choice if the club's valuation is met by Arsenal.

Arsenal excitement

Arsenal fans will certainly be excited ahead of their Premier League opener with Crystal Palace this weekend after the club secured a 3-0 victory over Manchester City to claim the Community Shield this past Sunday.

With the likes of Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Co. in north London, Gunners fans will be hoping the club make a strong title challenge this summer after only managing a fourth place Premier League finish last time out.

Confidence will be high at the Emirates after ending their trophy drought in the FA Cup in the 2013/14 season, and Arsenal will be hoping to start the season with three points against Tony Pulis' side this weekend.
