It was one of the worst kept secrets in professional wrestling, but the WWE have finally signed Kevin Steen to their roster where he will link up with the NXT division.

A fine talent

The Canadian superstar had been on the company's radar for quite a while now as he gained himself a huge following on the independent scene and is one of the finest talents in the wrestling industry today.

WWE fans that haven't seen Steen in action should definitely check him out. When you look at him you would never believe he is a WWE superstar but don't let the look fool you. He can brawl, he can be technical and don't be surprised to see him dive off the turnbuckle either -he can adapt his style.

Not only that, what makes Steen a fantastic superstar is that he can work the microphone incredibly well and the fans are always into his work. Let's hope the fans in attendance continue the 'Fight, Steen, fight!' chant in NXT as it goes over so well.

He comes into the WWE with a massive reputation and independent wrestling fans will follow him and let the rest of the fans and the company itself know that they have a very special talent on their hands.

Big reputation

Steen has built up his reputation in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, where he captured the PWG world championship on three occasions.

He also made a big name for himself in Ring of Honor, where he held the world championship and also the tag-team titles with partner-turned-foe El Generico, who we now know as Sami Zayn in NXT. Hopefully we can see the two renew their feud.

He bowed out of Ring of Honor with a victory over Steve Corino, before a piledriver match with Jerry Lawler hinted that Steen would be making his way to the WWE. Steen continued those hints on his official Twitter account, tweeting once a day in countdown fashion. When his countdown reached one, his signing was announced.

Bright future

Steen is the latest in a long line of incredible superstars Triple H has signed. With the Game focusing heavily on the NXT division, we have seen the likes of Adrian Neville and Zayn impress the fans. Kalisto is another great signing whilst KENTA and Fergal Devitt are another two fantastic signings which shows that the future of the WWE is bright.
