Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has compared winger Raheem Sterling to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
As reported by The Metro, the Reds boss has suggested that the skills and touches of the teenager remind him of the Argentine forward.
Rodgers has complimented the youngster on his fine form in pre-season, with his goal against Manchester City being the highlight.
"When you look at the finish against Manchester City in New York – how many times have we seen Messi produce a touch like that?
"Raheem’s feet were so soft and his finish was great, as was the one which was disallowed for offside just after.
"The great thing with watching him now is that he gets you off your seat. When he gets the ball you think ‘something could happen here."
Sterling also played a key role in Liverpool's fine pre-season victory over German outfit Borussia Dortmund this past weekend. The Reds ran riot against Dortmund, as they secured a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Daniel Sturridge, Dejan Lovren, Phillippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson.
And, Liverpool fans will certainly be excited ahead of the new season, with their attacking stars looking in fine shape. Despite the loss of talisman Luis Suarez to Barcelona, the likes of Sterling, Sturridge and Co. will be hoping to make a major impression throughout the 2014/15 campaign.
Liverpool fans will certainly be hoping that Sterling, who is still just 19-years-old, continues to excel and find his best form at Anfield next term. Sturridge, meanwhile, will be heavily relied upon to find the net next season after his excellent form in 2013/14.
It remains to be seen as to whether Brendan Rodgers further adds to his attack before the close of the window, with the Reds having already secured the services of England striker Rickie Lambert. Liverpool have also landed Belgian youngster Divock Origi, but he's been shipped back out on loan to French club Lille for the entire season.
Liverpool will be desperate to go one better in the Premier League next term after securing a runners up spot last time out. The Reds took the title race to the final day of the 2013/14 season, but were eventually pipped to the crown by Manchester City.
Rodgers' side will also be looking forward to a Champions League adventure this term, as the Reds go in search of their sixth major European trophy.
