Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Adnan Januzaj will become a "world star" in the next five years.
Writing in his column for The Telegraph, United's former captain has tipped the Belgian international to thrive in the 2014/15 season under Dutch manager Louis van Gaal.
Januzaj, of course, burst onto the scene in 2013/14 season under David Moyes, but Neville believes he will progress even further in the coming years. The youngster, who starred in his first World Cup this summer, will be desperate to play a key role under the new regime at Old Trafford.
On the youngster, Neville said: "In my opinion Adnan Januzaj is going to be a world star. When I turn my thoughts to the forward areas Rooney and Van Persie are the names on everyone’s tongue. United need those two to perform at their natural level. With Januzaj, I am convinced United have a youngster who will become one of the best in the world over the next five years.
"A bold statement, I know. And some bold statements return to haunt you. Yet when I watch him play I see someone with temperament, ability, determination. Those eyes express fierce intent. Their message is: no one will stop me. Looking at Van Gaal’s history, you notice that he always promotes a technical player. David Moyes introduced Januzaj – gave him his head – and I would be amazed if he failed to thrive this season even more than last, when he tired towards the end of the campaign."
The former United skipper has also tipped Januzaj to score more than 20 goals a season in future seasons at Old Trafford.
Neville continued by saying: "This is a big season for Januzaj. At this stage of his physical development you would not expect him to deliver 20 goals a season. But in two or three years I think he will, because he has the attributes of a world-class player."
Januzaj's immediate attention, however, will turn to the Red Devils' opening Premier League fixture against Swansea City this lunch time. The youngster, who has just been handed the club's No. 11 shirt, may have to settle for a place on the bench against the Swans.
Manchester United will be desperate to secure three points today, as Van Gaal looks to begin the season with a victory.
