The future of Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria could become more clear after his side's clash with Italian outfit Fiorentina this evening.

This has been reported by the Daily Star, who have suggested that if the Argentine ace doesn't want to play for the Bernabeu outfit, then he could be sold by manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Manchester United boost?

And, this could prove a major bonus for Manchester United in their pursuit of the Real Madrid superstar, with the club in desperate need of additions. The same report has indicated that the Red Devils could land the World Cup star for a club record fee of £45 million in this window.

Di Maria, of course, is recognised as one of the world's leading stars, and would prove a major coup for United. The Argentine played a key role in Madrid's Champions League venture last term, but the signing of James Rodriguez may see him shipped out at the Bernabeu.

Van Gaal nightmare

United fans will certainly be hoping the club land a marquee name before the close of the transfer window. Van Gaal saw his side beaten against Swansea City at Old Trafford earlier today, as the likes of Tyler Blackett and Jesse Lingard started under the Dutchman.

Despite having the likes of Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Co. in their attacking line, it appears that the club are in desperate need of another option going forward. The Red Devils are also in need of improvement in the middle of the park and defence. United fans, however, may be keeping a close eye on Real Madrid's match with Fiorentina tonight.
