Manchester United winger Nani is currently undergoing a medical with Sporting Lisbon and will be unveiled in the next hour as Marcos Rojo's move to Old Trafford draws ever closer according to reports in Portugal.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal looks to be closing in on his first official signing, with Rojo expected to arrive in the north west shortly to complete his move. The fee is believed to be in the region of £16 million, while Nani will head to Lisbon on loan as part of the deal.
It was reported that Nani had some reservations about returning to Portugal which looked like it may scupper the deal, however it would appear as though he has accepted the offer from his former club and will be unveiled shortly. Another problem that seemed to be slowing the deal down was an argument between Sporting and an investment group who own part of Rojo's economic rights, however these problems have been ironed out and the transfer now looks to be imminent.
The arrival or Rojo will provide a timely boost for Manchester United fans who were growing increasingly frustrated with their side missing out on a host of top targets. Van Gaal is in the market for defenders but lost out on Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona and is unlikely to land top target Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund, so it will come as a relief to get the deal for Rojo - who has attracted interest from Liverpool and Southampton - over the line.
Nani is one of seven players who have reportedly been told by Louis van Gaal that they have no future at Manchester United, despite the fact that the winger penned a five year contract last year. He had previously been linked with Juventus and it was claimed that he could be used to lure Arturo Vidal to Old Trafford, although the Chilean is now highly unlikely to leave Turin this summer.
Once a deal for Rojo is complete, Manchester United may turn their attention to landing Daley Blind from Ajax to further add to their defensive line. The 24-year-old, who was part of Van Gaal's World Cup squad in Brazil this summer, is likely to cost in the region of £20 million, and has previously admitted that he would be open to leaving Amsterdam this summer.
Further forward Van Gaal appears to be set on bolstering his options out wide, with Angel di Maria and Juan Cuadrado said to be targets, but he only has around two weeks to add to his squad before the close of the transfer window.
The former Barcelona boss' tenure at Old Trafford got off to the worst possible start as his side went down 2-1 to Swansea in his first competitive fixture on Saturday.
