WWE: John Cena vs Brock Lesnar rematch confirmed for Night of Champions

Football News

This Sunday at the WWE SummerSlam Pay-Per-View, Brock Lesnar literally dismantled John Cena en route to the most dominating WWE Championship win in the history of the company.

In the few days since, everyone has been wondering who would be next for Lesnar, and whether or not those plans would be including Cena, in particular.

Lesnar-Cena II

Well, it appears that Cena and the Cenation will get another crack at The Beast Incarnate at the Night of Champions Pay-Per-View event, according to Scott Fishman, who covers WWE for the Miami Herald.

"BREAKING: Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena #WWE world heavyweight championship rematch set for #NightOfChampions." Fishman tweeted earlier.

The news was announced by HHH on the live WWE Main Event show on the WWE Network.

Now this does throw up some questions. Taking into account the the way that Lesnar absolutely and completely dominated Cena at SummerSlam, it would be a monumental failure for Lesnar if Cena to take his title back just another month later.

But in the end, this is the WWE Creative Team that we’re talking about here, so who knows what they are going to come up with. If Cena is scheduled to win then no doubt will it be some cock and bull Rocky like story about being knocked down and getting up.

Creative Woes

Just thinking about it makes me wonder and even worry for the WWE's future right now. There are no real stars anymore apart from those that come in from time to time for big piles of money like Lesnar or The Rock. And then there is the second group like Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose and others who they are either sticking in terrible storylines despite clamour from the fans, or they genuinely have no idea how to put them over to that next level of main event headlining.

But like it or not, a Cena-Lesnar rematch is what we will be getting for the Night of Champions show, a show that the company is trying to build up as another WrestleMania pretty much. If it's anything like the sub-standard stuff we've had to fork out for this year then that will be another massive fail for the company.
