Louis van Gaal will be looking to secure his first Premier League points as Manchester United take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.

The Red Devils are under huge pressure to beat the Black Cats after losing to Swansea at Old Trafford last week. Another defeat will put an early nail in the coffin for a Premier League title challenge.

Last year

Manchester United came from 1-0 down to win 2-1 in this fixture last season where Adnan Januzaj announced himself to the world stage with an impressive brace.

Since that game both dugouts have changed their managers with caretaker manager Kevin Ball moving over for Gus Poyet and David Moyes famously losing his job in April.

Team news

Van Gaal will be delighted to welcome Robin van Persie back to the starting line up after the Holland captain managed to recover from injury. Januzaj starts on the bench despite his heroics on the same ground last season.
