With the arrivals of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, the limelight has slightly been taken off Eden Hazard ahead of the new season.

With the team's strikers failing to find the back of the net on a consistent basis last season, many Chelsea fans looked to winger Eden Hazard for goals and in his defence, he didn't disappoint.

The Belgium international netted 17 goals in all competitions, with 14 of those coming in the league earning him the PFA young player of the year award.

However, Hazard's goals werent quite enough for Chelsea to win the league with eventual champions Manchester City earning the crown due to their four world class strikers scoring consistently, a feat the Chelsea strikeforce couldn't match.

To make sure the same problem doesn't happen again this season, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho splashed £32 million on Spanish striker Diego Costa from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.

He also brought fellow Spain international and former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas to the club from Barcelona to create chances and grab assists for Costa and the rest of the team.

In Chelsea's first Premier league game of the season, and the debut for the new pair, Costa scored a goal and Fabregas stole the show with two assists and a man of the match performance making Chelsea the undoubted title favourites.

Even though he had a good game himself, Hazard's performance went a little under the radar due to his obvious talent and the brilliance of both Fabregas and Costa in their first game as a blue.

Always a threat

His dribbling was up to its usual standards as he teased the Burnley defence, giving them an example of what type of quality they will come up against this season.

Last season, he was Chelsea's best player by far, picking up the clubs player of the year at the end of his second season with the club, earning comparisons with club legend Gianfranco Zola.

This season, he has a big chance to be even better, due to the quality of both Costa and Fabregas. Costa will always make runs for Hazard to pass into, giving the 23 year-old a chance to gain more assists.

Fabregas, meanwhile, is a player who can pick out an inch perfect pass every time and will create many goalscoring opportunities for Hazard to improve on his 17 goals and maybe take his tally into the late 20s.

Key player

Even though Fabregas is the most creative midfield player in the country, and Costa is one of the most clinical strikers, Hazard remains Chelsea's key player for a season that promises so much.

At such a young age, he has the potential to not only be the Premier league's best player in the future, but possibly the world's.

With Hazard on the wing, Costa up front, Fabregas and Nemanja Matic as the holding midfielders, John Terry and Gary Cahill at centre back and youngster Thibaut Courtois in goal, Chelsea can expect very big things this year.
