Avellino forward Gianmario Comi hit the headlines in Italy over the weekend after allegedly biting an opponent during his side's Coppa Italia clash against Bari.

The 22-year-old tangled with Giuseppe de Luca on the edge of the box as the pair jostled for space in the build-up to a free-kick routine, and that's when the incident apparently took place, prompting an angry reaction from the victim.

De Luca was so incensed by Comi's action - which incidentally wasn't spotted by the referee or linesman - that his crazy response resulted in him being sent off, to the shock and dismay of the Bari supporters.

To make matters worse the Luis Suarez impersonator, who was lucky to still be on the field, netted the equaliser to set Serie 'B' outfit Avellino on their way to victory in the third round tie.

After the game, Bari uploaded a picture to their official website showing the bite mark left on De Luca's body, and Comi will almost certainly now face retrospective action by the Italian FA following the ugly act of unsporting behaviour.

Watch footage of the bite incident in the video below - and have your say on what punishment the player should face in an attempt to stamp out these horrible episodes from occurring again in football.
