Radamel Falcao follows Campbell on Twitter

Monaco forward Radamel Falcao has sparked fresh speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal after he started following Joel Campbell on Twitter.

As reported by the Daily Express, the Colombian international has either accidentally thumbed the wrong button on his smartphone - or he genuinely wants to be kept up to date with Campbell's latest movements.

Falcao available

Falcao, reportedly a £50m target for the Gunners this transfer window, could be available on a season-long loan deal for the right price. Monaco are thought to want £20m up front to sanction the deal, but it's believed that Falcao is available following the departure of his compatriot James Rodriguez.

And for some reason he's decided to follow Costa Rican international Campbell. A quick look at his Twitter account reveals Campbell enjoys retweeting pictures of himself, speaking in two languages, and quoting legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi.

Quite why Falcao wants to follow him is anybody's guess. But, with the transfer deadline looming and Arsenal's interest reportedly genuine, any kind of social media activity is picked up and picked apart.

Arsene Wenger on signings

Clear run

The most recent reports today have claimed that Arsenal are now the only contenders to sign the 28-year-old forward, after Real Madrid pulled the plug on their interest. The Metro say Arsenal have a 'clear run' to sign the forward.

Falcao has signalled his intention to Arsenal chiefs that he's willing to move to the Premier League, but the Gunners are hesitating over the size of the fee wanted by Monaco.

Despite what he says publicly, it's clear Arsene Wenger will have to dip into the transfer market for another forward, with the news that Olivier Giroud is out until December with an ankle injury.

But it may just be that Falcao is too expensive for the Frenchman's taste - especially when you consider that the Gunners were briefly linked with journeyman giant Nicola Zigic earlier this week too. Falcao or Zigic? There's a tough one.
