Irish MMA featherweight star Conor McGregor is set to face American Dustin Poirier on September 27 at UFC 178 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
McGregor has a professional record of 15 wins and 2 losses and is currently on an 11 win streak. The Irishman introduced himself to the UFC with a clinical victory over Marcus Brimage in a first round victory in Stockholm.
The 26-year-old went on to defeat Max Holloway in Boston, where during a decision victory he suffered a torn cruciate ligament injury ruling him out for 10 months. Following a return from injury this month McGregor defeated Brazillian Diego Sanchez in a first round TKO and now has set his sights on Poirier.
McGregor has assured his legions of fans of an easy first round knockout stating, "Trust me this is a first round KO [knock-out] in my mind, his toes will curl and I will celebrate". Poirier responded by claiming, "I truly feel like I could knock him out or submit him and if it goes the distance I think I would win the decision."
