WWE continues to promote international superstars

Football News

Though undoubtedly dominated by Americans, the importance of those on the WWE roster who come from any other country, is very clear.

The few wrestlers from Great Britain who appear in WWE such as; Paige, Sheamus and Wade Barrett, seem to have enough of an impact to remind the WWE Universe of the significant following the industry has over here.

Sheamus for example, would not necessarily stand out as much as a wrestler were he another American or Canadian and would simply add to huge number of representatives WWE has from these countries.

The way WWE acts on Sheamus' nationality makes him even more likeable. Often, when it isn't the biggest names in the business concerned, fans are very keen on those from other countries or any underdogs in general, coming through.

Canadians' presence

Despite America understandably being the most dominant area in terms of the nationality of several WWE Superstars, Canada has produced a number of huge names in WWE, both past and present.

The infamous brothers Bret and Owen Hart will forever be known as two of the greatest Canadian wrestlers of all time. Their ongoing feud as well as wrestling ability as individuals, instantly proved that it was not just America who were able to boast a number of incredible wrestlers.

International females

Arguably the best female wrestler the WWE has seen, Trish Stratus proved the capability of women wrestlers for Canada.

The dominance of WWE Divas from other countries is something which is still present in WWE, most notably through the talent of Paige, who is a rising star from England.

Coming from a family of wrestlers, Paige first burst onto the scene on the post-WrestleMania XXX episode of Raw, when she managed to conquer AJ Lee for the WWE Diva's Championship Title and end her 295-day reign. Since then Paige has gained a huge following and we are certain to see a lot more from the Norwich-born youngster.

Other international stars which also have focus on them at present include Rusev and Cesaro, who hail from Bulgaria and Switzerland respectively.

Rusev became the first Bulgarian wrestler in the WWE, and his 'anti-American' gimmick alongside his social ambassador Lana, is often pushed despite being marred with the confusion of him being a Bulgarian who relocated to Russia.

Cesaro on the other hand, is an extremely talented wrestler with a whole host of moves that other WWE Superstars would be envious of. His character boasts of being able to speak several languages as well as having a greater fashion knowledge due to his heritage.

Whatever gimmicks or sidekicks these international wrestlers possess, there is no question that they promote their countries extremely well through their wrestling ability and will continue to emerge in WWE for some time.
