That time has come around again when the table is reset to zero, and teams hope that their summer acquisitions can produce a brilliant season for the club.

The new Aviva Premiership campaign gets underway this Friday, with reigning champions Northampton Saints beginning their defence against Gloucester in the first match.

Newly-promoted side London Welsh face Exeter Chiefs as they look to get off to a reasonable start to avoid a quick return to the Championship.

Saracens take on the Wasps, while the Irish do battle with Harlequins in the London double header at Twickenham, a tradition for the opening weekend of the new season.

Bath will be hoping to begin to extinguish the near miss of the play-offs with a trip to Sale Sharks, while Leicester kick off against Newcastle Falcons, as they attempt a return to the Grand Final, having failed to reach it for the first time in ten years last term.

With 134 matches between now and the showdown at Twickenham on the 30th May, here is a look at the contenders for the Premiership crown this season.
