Arguably everyones favourite segment on Jimmy Kimmel live is the mean tweets segment in which famous people read harsh tweets about themselves on camera.

This week, it featured a special NFL edition and some of the tweets the league's superstars are made to read are pure comedy.

They varied to just barefaced insults, to cleverly written jokes about their appearance to even questioning who the players are?

Nobody was safe with Super Bowl XLVIII MVP Malcolm Smith of the Seattle Seahawks even going on to answer his harsh critics.

Hopes for injuries, simplistic solutions for injured players, insults to their dress sense, physical appearance and actual football ability all give an amazingly funny segment.

**CAUTION the below video features strong language**

Some are just flat out insults based on nothing, but some have some real genius behind them, like the one aimed at former New York Giants Defensive End Michael Strahan.

Strahan's mean tweet read: "Michael Strahan's teeth are having a middle school dance where the boys stand on one side of the room and the girls stand on the other."

It was a pure genius tweet that also brought a smile to the face of the now retired Giants legend.

Current Pittsburgh Steelers Cornerback Ike Taylor was also under fire with a very comical tweet which read "Ike Taylor once caught a football.... lol jk".

It sparked an awkward look at the camera from the Steelers defender before moving on.

Perhaps one of the most emotional ones was fired at Chicago Bears Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall.

We all recall his crying in a post match press conference? Well his tweet read "Did Brandon Marshall really cry in his post match press conference? Grow some balls bro."

A moment many fans loved in real life clearly didn't satisfy everyone, fair play to Marshall however who began pretending to cry.

Washington Redskins Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson was called out for his fashion sense while retired Wide Receiver KeyShawn Johnson was asked if he had eaten every player who had ever covered him?

As mentioned, Seahawks Linebacker Malcolm Smith was called up and congratulated for winning the 'who the **** are you award.

The whole segment was quite hilarious with some funnier than others, but no-one was safe and we can only hope, they repeat it on the show sometime soon.
