Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is on the verge of signing a bumper new five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, with talks set to reopen when he returns from England duty.

The 27-year-old is being lined up for an extension by Manuel Pellegrini, following the likes of Sergio Agüero, Vincent Kompany, Edin Dzeko, David Silva and Samir Nasri to commit their long-term future to the Premier League champions.

Aaron Lennon is convinced his future is at Tottenham after pulling the plug on a deadline day transfer to Queens Park Rangers.

The 27-year-old winger looked set to leave White Hart Lane with just 15 minutes of the window remaining, but made a dramatic U-turn to stay and fight for his place in Mauricio Pochettino's team.
