Netherlands team sheet prediction v Czech Republic

Football News

Manchester United duo Robin van Persie and Daley Blind are expected to start for Netherlands in their opening European Championship qualifier against Czech Republic.

Guus Hiddink got off to a bad start at the Dutch helm last week, losing his first match 2-0 in Italy after Bruno Martins Indi saw red when giving away a penalty. And, the FC Porto defender could be the one casualty following that defeat in Bari.

LVG's number one

Jasper Cillessen made the keeper position his own under Louis van Gaal, and will expect to keep it for the opening 2016 qualifier in Prague.

At the back, Daryl Janmaat and Stefan de Vrij did little wrong against the Italians, but Martins Indi was not impressive before seeing red and Joel Veltman has seen his importance grow in training ahead of tonight’s clash.

In midfield, Hiddink should see little need to change the core that performed so well in Brazil earlier in the year, with Wesley Sneijder, Daley Blind and Nigel de Jong at the heart of the side.

Wide options

Georginio Wijnaldum should get the nod ahead of Memphis Depay on one flank, with Jermain Lens on the other flank after his 12 minute appearance against the Italians.

That leaves Dirk Kuyt and Robin van Persie to lead the line for the Dutch, who will be hoping to get off to a good start on the road to France.

Netherland predicted line-up v Czech Republic:

Cillessen; De Vrij, Veltman, Janmaat; Wijnaldum, Sneijder, Blind, De Jong, Lens; Kuyt, Van Persie.
