Ronda Rousey gave her view on the Ray Rice saga today in typically explosive fashion. Ronda Rousey is one of the most powerful women in the world in two senses.

Rousey is powerful in the ring as the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion and she is powerful out of the ring because of her status as a strong woman in society.

She is fighting in a man's world and she is incredibly good at it. Rousey has become a box office star because of her physical dominance and not purely because of her looks, meaning she is a good role model for young women on the issue of self-worth.

And it is self-worth that Ronda Rousey believes that Janay Rice doesn't have. In an interview this week, she was asked to give her view on the hottest topic in sports right now.

Ever since the video of Ray Rice's domestic assault on his then fiance now wife, Janay Rice, the topic has been hot news with intense condemnation coming the way of Ray.

Even US President Barack Obama has got involved, and Rousey is the latest to say her piece.

"You need to respect yourself and see what you are worth … really know what you are worth. Unfortunately, I think a lot of women undersell themselves and don’t know how much they really deserve. I know for a fact that [Palmer] deserves more than she believes."

The lowdown

Most of you will know by now that the Ray Rice saga began back in February when he assaulted his then fiance in an elevator lift at a casino.

Both of them were arrested for assault, before Ray Rice was charged and given a suspended prison sentence after it was adjudged he could seek counseling instead.

Back then, the public hadn't seen the lift footage. The NFL also claim they hadn't seen the footage, a claim many feel to be a lie.

But when TMZ released the video earlier this week, it became a global trending topic that forced the Ravens to release him and the NFL to ban him indefinitely.

And the story even took a weird turn when Indiana Pacers NBA superstar Paul George defended Rice, before he and his team apologized for his comments.

One thing's for sure, the Ray Rice saga will run and run for sometime yet.
