Sebastian Buemi will be looking to continue the run of success he is having with the E. Dams team throughout testing.

All ten teams started with identical cars going into the testing sessions. However, all the engineers strpiped their cars down in order to find an advantage that will make them go faster when they hit the track on September 13 in Beijing.

Early advantage

Therefore, it seems that the French team looks like they have taken the early advantage in the series but there are many teams that have a wealth of experience in the electric cars such as Venturi.

Venturi are no strangers to electric cars as they are trying to set the land speed record for an electric vehicle. Having cars that are identical could have been seen as a small disadvantage for the team.

This is because they had no input in the design of the chassis. Therefore their engineers, who know how to build a fast car can only make minor adjustments in order to try and gain a speed advantage.

Mahindra are also another team with a history of electric cars. The Indian team have recently began making electric cars and have two models already available to purchase in the e2o and the REVA.

The series also sees teams that have been successful in other racing categories that they have entered, such as Andretti Autosport, Audi Sport ABT and Dragon Racing. All these teams have set their ambitions for race wins and podiums as they try and get their heads round the new technology as quickly as possible.

Lofty ambitions

Virgin Racing are another team that could give E. Dams and Sebastian Buemi some trouble. The team is backed by Richard Branson and they have ambitions to hit the ground running in Beijing. The team where not as successful as they would of hoped for when they entered Formula One in 2010. However, they are looking to put that behind them as they set out for victories and podiums.

The racing in Formula E is set to be very close as so many teams have aspirations of finishing on the top step of podium, while the cars are technically equal. However, someone is going to come up short of the marker and it will be interesting to see how they will react during the season.
