Arsenal news: Gunners target Virgil van Dijk 'fully committed' to Celtic

Celtic manager Ronny Deila insists Virgil van Dijk is fully committed to the Scottish champions despite his failed deadline day move to Arsenal. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger made a late approach to sign the Dutch defender but couldn't reach agreement over a fee. Van Dijk had been hoping to move to the Premier League to increase his chances of an international call after Louis van Gaal opted against including the player in his Holland squad for the World Cup this summer. The 23-year-old pushed harder for a transfer following Celtic's failure to qualify for the Champions League, but Deila insists that the centre-back remains happy after negotiations broke down.
