Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent is looking to move his client away from Real Madrid after falling out with the club’s president and Manchester United are in the driving seat to pounce if he becomes available.

According to El Confidencial, the transfer of Angel di Maria to Manchester United and the mixed messages coming from Florentino Perez and the player has left relations between Jorge Mendes and the club a little icy.

United ready to splash out

It claims that the Old Trafford club are more than prepared to put in a substantial offer should Ronaldo decide that his time with the club should come to an end.

However, Real Madrid have some concerns regarding the long-term fitness of the Portuguese superstar and may not be too averse to a sale if his knee problems are recurring.

Player's choice

Ronaldo is still the star man with los Blancos and any potential transfer would be down to him, but Mendes is not going to sit on his hands and is making sure there will be a deal ready to go should a transfer become possible.

The report claims the £150million shopping spree this summer has alerted the world’s top players to the fact that Manchester United are ready to spend and the financial rewards of joining Louis van Gaal’s squad would be vast.

Long-standing love affair

Ronaldo is not shy to talk about how much he enjoyed his time with the Red Devils, where he spent six years after moving from Sporting Lisbon in his native Portugal.
