Ashley Cole has become something of a comedy figure since his move to Roma owing to his inability to integrate into a team photo, an incident that has now been parodied by Arsenal’s king of comedy Lukas Podolski.

Lonely figure

Cole joined Roma on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with Chelsea, and it appeared he took a little while to settle into life away from Stamford Bridge and connect with his new teammates.

A team snap during pre-season showed Cole stood alone to one side as the rest of the Roma players enjoyed a bit of bonding, and it became something of a viral sensation.

Podolski may be a little bit late to join in the fun, but his mock-up involving Cole is still a somewhat amusing one, with the former Arsenal and Chelsea full-back creeping into the Gunners’ official team photo for this season.

Arsenal stars

It squad picture that included all of Arsenal’s numerous summer acquisitions, with Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers also joined by Danny Welbeck, who moved to the Emirates Stadium on deadline day.

Welbeck was afforded his first start for the Gunners for the encounter with Manchester City on Saturday afternoon in a fixture that ended 2-2.
