Chris Jericho is one of the most popular names in WWE and, ahead of his match with Randy Orton at Night Of Champions tomorrow night, I was fortunate enough to be able to interview Y2J himself.
It is no secret that WWE wrestlers are extremely busy all year round whether because of their commitments to the industry or outside of it. Jericho is no exception to this as aside from being a WWE Superstar, he is a writer and presents his podcast Talk Is Jericho in addition to fronting heavy metal band Fozzy.
Music or wrestling
Given both his band and WWE have played a huge part in his life for many years, I asked him which if he had to choose, he would say he prefers to tour with. His reply was unsurprisingly humble:
"I enjoy doing both because I am fortunate and blessed to be living both my dreams. I don't take either of them for granted."
Another important part of The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla's life is his family. He explained that what he most enjoys doing when he does have time to himself is hanging with his family and being a daddy. He continued to say that it was this that is 'the best job in the world!'
With regard to WWE, Jericho seemed certain at what would be his dream match to see which had either happened or not yet taken place:
"I would love to see Undertaker vs Sting. It's one of the last true dream matches remaining."
After which, I asked the 43-year-old whether he preferred to be a heel or babyface within WWE and what his reasons were for this, to which he replied:
"Heel is more fun but babyface gives you more glory haha!" Which gives an interesting insight into the views of a WWE Superstar which we may not previously have known.
In relation to wrestling, I was keen to find out Jericho's views on the current state of WWE and whether or not he feels its success will remain for years to come.
On this topic, he gave a very clear and admirable answer:
"It is a true pop culture phenom. There is something for EVERYBODY in the WWE. The WWE will continue on for as long as there is entertainment."
It is because of WWE Superstars like Jericho that the industry is and continues to be as successful and popular as it is. The fact he was willing to take time out of his extremely hectic lifestyle to provide an interview for me only proves the genuine down-to-earth nature these wrestlers possess as well as how important their fans are to them.
