The third round of the Capital One Cup kicks off tonight and there is plenty of potential for an upset as we enter the Third Round.

With many top teams using the competition to rest their biggest names, it fills the smaller sides with hope of pulling off a major surprise.

Tuesday fixtures

Middlesborough travel to Anfield tonight, full of hope they can heap more misery on Liverpool after their faltering start to the season.

League Two Shrewsbury host Norwich City, who were relegated to the Championship last season, and will be hoping to claim the scalp of a side two divisions and 52 league positions above them.

Wednesday fixtures

Tomorrow night Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all face potential banana skins as they host Championship opposition Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest.

With the football league clubs harvesting dreams of a cup giant killing there is plenty of inspiration to be taken from years gone by.
