Luke Shaw may shine in Manchester United debut this weekend

Manchester United's teen star Luke Shaw has finally proved his fitness, and should make his home debut this weekend against West Ham at Old Trafford.

Shaw joined United for £30 million from south-coast club Southampton but, due to a hamstring injury, the player missed the start of the Premier League season.

Prove him wrong

After having proved his good fitness this week the 19-year-old left-back is set to start for the Red Devil following their defensive crisis.

However, it was reported earlier this week that United boss Louis van Gaal doesn't rate the defender at all.

Many will expect Shaw to shine if he starts this weekend, and he does bring a massive boost to United's defensive capabilities.

Helping his team to bag a second victory and clean sheet in the Premier League would definitely convince Van Gaal that he is wrong.

Superb before move

Last season Shaw was brilliant for Southampton, and became a key player under Pochettino.

The defender helped keep 15 clean sheets in 38 appearances in all competitions and the Saints only lost 11 times when the youngster was on the pitch.

Only aged 19, Shaw has, of course, a lot to improve on, and gaining some experience will only strengthen his abilities. With Euro 2016 on the horizon Shaw needs to play to be given the chance to shine with the England national team, and these international caps will only be beneficial for United.

United defence

With Shaw ready to start in his natural position, Van Gaal will be looking for a solid defensive display, and that would mean placing £16 million Marcos Rojo back in the centre of the defence alongside Chris Smalling.
