Brendan Rodgers decided that it was in the best interests of both club and player to allow Luis Suarez to leave for Barcelona this summer, recouping around £75 million in the transaction. Yet if the Northern Irishman wants his team to prosper then he can’t afford to do the same with this season’s key man Raheem Sterling, according to former Liverpool forward Emile Heskey. The ex-England striker was quizzed on talkSPORT over the recent rumours suggesting Real Madrid could be the next European heavyweights to attempt to muscle in and relieve the Reds of one of their star performers, and he believes that if Rodgers consents to a sale the repercussions could be massive.
