Yevhen Konoplyanka's agent in Italy to discuss possible transfer

Konoplyanka could cost up to £16m.

Yevhen Konoplyanka has taken a step closer to moving to Serie 'A' after the FC Dnipro winger's agent arrived in Italy to hold talks over an £18 million transfer.

The Ukraine international has attracted interest from domestic rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan, and could make the big-money switch when the transfer window reopens in January.

According to Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the 24-year-old's representative plans to negotiate with suitors from both clubs as his client edges towards an exit from the Dnipro-Arena.

Widespread interest

Konoplyanka has long been linked with a move away from the Ukrainian Premier League giants, and rumours resurfaced in recent weeks after the player allegedly turned down the offer of a new contract with Myron Markevych's side.

The Express reported earlier this month that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was keen to lure the attacking midfielder to Anfield at the turn of the year, whilst also mentioning Tottenham as admirers of the wide-man in the previous mid-season window.

However, that was prior to Mauricio Pochettino taking over at White Hart Lane, so it's not clear whether the north London club remain interested in acquiring his services.

LVG monitoring?

Manchester United complete the trio of Premier League suitors, with new Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal also linked with an approach for the highly-rated star over the summer.

Of course, that was before the £59.6 million British record transfer of Angel di Maria to Old Trafford from Real Madrid, which could well have ended the Dutch coach's intentions to lure Konoplyanka to Manchester too.

Judging by Di Marzio's sources a move to Italy now looks most likely for the player anyway, providing either Inter or AC Milan are willing to meet his £18 million valuation.

Big-money gamble...

It's quite a big price-tag for a relatively unknown player in eastern Europe, although Konoplyanka does boast experience of playing in the Champions League and Europa League, and has also excelled on the international stage with his country.

The only question that remains about his ability is whether he has the consistency to perform regularly in one of the major leagues, something that will hopefully be answered as long as Konoplyanka's agent holds positive talks on his flying visit this week.
