Arsenal news: Wenger should have bought back Alex Song, says former Gunner

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has questioned Arsene Wenger's decision not to re-sign Alex Song when his side are crying out for a defensive midfielder. The Gunners failed to recruit a suitable signing to solve a long-term problem position, even after it became clear that the Cameroon international was free to leave Barcelona. Song played a starring role at the Emirates prior to his £15m move to Camp Nou in 2012, and that's why Wright is baffled by Wenger's transfer snub. In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live the former striker speculated about the 27-year-old's behaviour, suggesting that Song must've done some "bad things" in north London to put the Frenchman off acquiring his services.
