Luke Harper set for WWE singles push

Since The Wyatt Family made their debut last year towards SummerSlam against Kane, they have failed to live up to the high expectations they set for themselves.

Instant impact

They certainly left an impression on the fans that didn’t watch Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper on NXT because they brought something new, something fresh to the main roster.

But since their latest feud, all three men have taken a step backwards, sometimes not appearing on an episode of Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown but it looks as if the WWE writers have come up with an interesting solution to keep the fans engaged.

After feuding with Kane, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, John Cena and Chris Jericho options have been limited for The Wyatt Family to continue improving but there could be an interesting few months ahead – especially if the Bray Wyatt and Sting rumours come true.

On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw we were finally treated to another classic Wyatt Family vignette, similar to when they first start teasing a main roster debut.

In the vignette, Erick Rowan wasn’t to be seen as Luke Harper was the main focal point of the vignette even though it was Bray Wyatt doing the majority of the talking as usual.

Bray Wyatt sets Luke Harper free

In the vignette, Bray Watt talked about finding someone after everyone was told he was gone, and asks what do you give to someone who has lost everything?

He also said he fixed someone and now he’s being sent out on his own, which is where the focus on Luke Harper begins. Harper then says he’s piecing himself back together with pieces of ‘you’ as Bray Wyatt tells Luke Harper that he is now set free, before Harper looks into the camera and says ‘you’re doomed.'

So what does this mean? The best and most sensible guess is that Luke Harper will be getting a singles push whilst Erick Rowan still isn’t ‘fixed’ and will remain with Bray Wyatt. The promo itself was fantastic, the most effective way of giving Luke Harper a well-deserved push because the backstory involved Bray Wyatt taking Luke Harper under his wing, welcoming him to his family, and now his job is done.

What does the future hold?

The Wyatt Family were often compared to The Shield, and the difference is that The Shield had two members that were already perfect in Rollins and Ambrose. Whereas in The Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt was the man carrying the group at first until Luke Harper surprised main roster fans with his superior in-ring ability which was unbelievable for a man of his size.

He deserves a singles push, Erick Rowan just won’t be able to survive in a singles career whilst Harper would be held back if he was limited to tag team contests. He doesn’t even need to break off from The Wyatt Family, he can still be a part of the family but out there doing his own thing.

Harper is probably the best big-man in the WWE right now, very good inside the ring and we know he can talk too, a very large build who is often seen flying from outside of the ring and is very athletic; he has the ability to become a champion in the business.

Fans will be quick to speculate whether this means Bray Wyatt will bring in another superstar to his family, or whether a Sister Abigail character will finally be introduced. It will certainly be an interesting journey for Luke Harper in his singles push, one I believe he will succeed in.
