Manchester City 1-1 AS Roma: Player ratings

1. Manchester City vs Roma

On reflection, a draw isn't a bad result for an impressive AS Roma side. However, Manchester City FC will be left to rue a chance to catch up with FC Bayern München. Pellegrini may need to rethink his tactics and team selection following a match which gives Roma the advantage to take the second spot in the group.

Star: Francesco Totti for turning back time and showing an absolute passing master-class along with scoring a goal which gave him the record for oldest goal scorer in the Champions League which is something in itself.

Rating: 3/5 for a curious but drab draw.

Flop: Yaya Toure for failing to break out of his stupor and having an overall poor day.

2. PSG vs Barcelona

A fantastic game of football in Paris as PSG came away with all three points in a closely fought encounter. It was even more important for Les Parisiens given their draw against Ajax.

This is one leg of a match which will certainly shape the battle in Europe and CL as we go forward.

Star: Thiago Motta for some stunning passes, keeping a leash on the Catalans as well as chipping in with an assist.

Rating: 4.5/5 for a closely fought and entertaining encounter.

Flop: Edinson Cavani for failing to step up in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and wasting innumerable chances

3. CSKA Moscow vs Bayern Munich

There's only one way to describe FC Bayern München's performance against CSKA Moscow: efficient. No extravagance but an effective and crucial away win in a close group for the Die Roten which would have pleased Pep Guardiola.

CSKA showed improvement from their nightmarish match against Roma but they are still in need of much help if they are to have any realistic hope of continuing their European dreams against the other top teams in their group.

Star: Thomas Müller for grabbing the vital and eventually match winning goal.

Rating: 2.5/5 Average but not what the fans want.

Flop: No one in particular, but the whole Moscow team failed to live up to their potential.
