Manchester United are set to step up their interest in West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford, according to the Daily Mail.

The teenager - who is just 15-years-old - is recognised by the Red Devils as one of the best young defender in England, and now it appears that the club are ready to bring him to Old Trafford.

Despite splashing the cash this past summer, it appears that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is determined to bring through youth at the Theatre of Dreams. The Red Devils boss has already handed a number of young defenders opportunities to shine this term, with the likes of Paddy McNair, Tom Thorpe and Tyler Blackett starring for the first-team.

It appears, though, that United believe Oxford can overtake that trio in the pecking order at the club if they're able to land him in the near future.

It won't be easy for United to secure the player's services, however, with a number of other clubs interested in his signature. As well as United, the same report has revealed that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the England youngster.

Arsenal and Chelsea, who are set to go head-to-head in the Premier League this afternoon, could yet step up their interest in the star, with Manchester United now extremely keen.
