According to the latest speculation from Italian publication Tuttosport cited by the Daily Star, the Red Devils - who were linked with Chilean international Vidal throughout a busy summer transfer window - remain desperate to acquire his services and now stand a much better chance of doing just that after the £35 million-rated enforcer was suitably punished by his club for involvement in an altercation whilst on a night out earlier this week.
The same source goes onto claim that, in the event that they do successfully offload Vidal, Juventus would clear the necessary funds to make a serious attempt to sign long-term Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri.
If Juventus are successful in their attempts to land Swiss playmaker Shaqiri, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will presumably be very disappointed indeed with speculation claiming he remains in pursuit of his signature despite having a concrete offer rejected by Bayern Munich prior to the 2014 World Cup.
Shaqiri appears to have become somewhat of a frustrated figure at the Allianz Arena over recent months, with a lack of regular starts under popular manager Pep Guardiola compounded by the fact that he appears to have been told in no uncertain terms that he is to remain at Bayern for the foreseeable future.
"I've still got a contract until 2016 and the club have already told me I won't be going anywhere so I've just got to accept that," the 22-year-old was quoted earlier this week.
"For as long as I am here, I will give everything I've got. I try to do my best in training and when the coach rewards me with appearances, like today against Hannover, then that's even better.
"I'm always delighted when I can start games, and I show that too, like I did this time. I think everybody could see how hungry I am to play football."
For Manchester United, the news that Juve have allegedly performed somewhat of a U-turn on the future of Vidal will be very welcome indeed.
While reservations over the behaviour that have made the reigning Serie A champions more willing to sell him are potentially valid, Louis van Gaal has made no secret of his admiration for the player in the past and he will surely be delighted with the opportunity to take such a talented midfielder to Old Trafford to link up with the likes of Angel di Maria, Daley Blind and Ander Herrera.
