Football News

As is the norm in the WWE Universe rumors concerning CM Punk and his return to wrestling have been doing the rounds this week.

Whilst most reports and speculation tend to give updates on a potential return to the WWE for one of their favorite wrestlers the most recent such story differed a little in that it suggested the now former superstar was offered a way back into wrestling by rival company TNA.

The reports suggested TNA, who also recently approached Alberto Del Rio after he was fired by WWE, had been ready to offer CM Punk a huge sum of money to end his self-imposed exile and wrestle with them - even going on to suggest that Punk turned down the opportunity which came about through a friend of Punk.

No truth

TNA however have now reportedly rejected such claims with a source inside the company telling PWIsider.

"No offer was made, officially or via an intermediary - no truth to that rumor."

That sounds pretty definitive to us. However, considering the earlier report stated that Punk flatly rejected such a proposal perhaps they are trying to avoid riling their bigger brother WWE, or showing themselves as unable to steal away their talent?

Punk's future

Whilst WWE fans, WWE legends, WWE analysts and the entire WWE Universe continue to debate the possible return of CM Punk the Chicago native himself has remained coy on the prospect.

In the few public appearances he has made since officially exiting the WWE back in July Cm Punk has refused to go into detail on his current situation. The most he has offered is to say that he is happy enjoying time away from wrestling, with some suggesting he will never actually return.

At 35-years-old Punk still has plenty of wrestling years ahead of him should he look to build bridges in the future however.

But with legal battles and ill-tempers marring the final few months of his time in WWE it looks like that could be some way off yet.

The link therefore to TNA made sense to many, but it appears that was little more than paper talk...for now
