Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has handed a Gunners boss Arsene Wenger a timely fitness boost after being declared fit to face Hull City this weekend.
Welbeck was rumoured to a doubt after hobbling out of England's 1-0 win over Estonia on Sunday night, but the Evening Standard report that after a two-day recovery period the £16m forward will resume full training and looks a shoe-in to start against the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Welbeck boost can't mask injury crisis
Wenger will no doubt relieved Welbeck's returned from two games in four days unscathed, but in truth that's barely even a silver lining in a shocking week for the Gunners on the injury front.
Arsenal found out last week that Mesut Ozil's knee injury is much worse than first thought, with medial ligament damage ruling the World Cup winner out for 10 weeks at the very least.
There's also a nagging concern over key defender Laurent Koscielny, who was sent back to London by France without kicking a ball after being diagnosed with tendinitis in both Achilles tendons.
Add that duo a lengthy injury list which already includes Mathieu Debuchy, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta and thinks are starting to look pretty bleak at London Colney, despite the impending return of Theo Walcott.
Defensive crisis casts cloud over Hull preparations
Most pressingly for Wenger are big problems at centre-back if Koscielny needs a rest this weekend.
Calum Chambers would ordinarily be the leading candidate to deputise, but the England youngster is suspended after picking up five yellow cards in his first six Premier League games for the Gunners.
That means Wenger may be forced to move Nacho Monreal inside in emergency circumstances, with Hector Bellerin also on the verge of being drafted in to feature at right-back.
Arsenal's weakened squad will now be put under pressure by three games in eight days, a period which will tell us a lot about some of the previously peripheral figures in the Gunners squad that Wenger now needs to step up and be counted.
