Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal could hand youngster Adnan Januzaj his first start of the season against West Brom on Monday night, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The teenager - who burst onto the scene in style under David Moyes last term - still hasn't started a game under the new regime, but it appears that he could be in line to replace Juan Mata in the No.10 role at the Hawthorns.
After Wayne Rooney picked up a three game ban following his red card against West Ham United on September 27, Mata replaced him in the side that beat Merseyside outfit Everton by two goals to one before the international break.
Mata, though, failed to impress in his preferred position, meaning Januzaj could now step into the role for the club's next fixture. The youngster was part of the Belgian set-up in this past week's European Championship qualifiers, however he failed to make it off the bench in the two games, so he should be fresh for Monday night.
Manchester United fans will certainly be excited to see what Januzaj has to offer under Van Gaal after a disappointing start to the campaign for the youngster.
It's not surprising, however, that Januzaj has struggled in the early stages of the season, with the array of attacking talent at the Theatre of Dreams. Rooney, before his suspension, proved to be Van Gaal's No.1 choice for the position, whilst the club also have Belgian Marouane Fellaini who can play behind the front two.
Perhaps, then, it's time for Januzaj to be handed the chance to shine between Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie. The Belgian international certainly offers something different to Mata and will be desperate to prove his worth under the new regime.
Always willing to take players on, Januzaj, along with Argentine star Angel di Maria, would prove an asset on the break and could help start attacks at the Hawthorns on Monday. His progress may have slowed down in recent time, but the youngster may finally be unleashed next week.
