Rumors have been circling for weeks now regarding a WWE return for legendary wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin, and finally the former superstar has responded to the reports himself.

Speaking during The Steve Austin Show this week, Austin was asked about the recent reports on his desire to come back to the WWE, and wrestling fans will most likely be unanimously disappointed by his comments.

Intense speculation

In the recent weeks and months the noise surrounding a return for Stone Cold has got louder. And he didn't help himself when he made these comments earlier this month.

“I’m trying to get back into shape for a comeback," Austin explained earlier this month.

Comments taken out of context

But now Steve Austin is saying that those comments were actually taken out of context and were actually regarding his desire to make a comeback to the gym.

Stone Cold claims that 'the dirt sheets' took those comments out of context and that's how the mass speculation about a Stone Cold Steve Austin WrestleMania 31 began.

"I'm really really happy with the schedule that I'm keeping right now. I just got finished shooting 30 days of Redneck Island, and I've got six days off before we're rolling right into production of Broken Skull Challenge," explained Austin on The Steve Austin Show.

"I've got so much on that I don't see that I have the time in my schedule or the desire to climb back in the ring and start taking bumps again."

Still a chance of a comeback

However, Austin did offer a slight chance of a WrestleMania 31 comeback by saying he was going to be doing a secret project starting in February, but it's unlikely to be a return to WWE at this stage.

But for all those WWE fans that would love to see a wrestling return for Stone Cold, it seems we will just have to hope that these comments from earlier this year come true when WrestleMania heads to Dallas, Texas, in 2016.

"I'll reserve my right to if I want to have another match down the road - say, like, Dallas, Texas is going to be (WrestleMania) 32," Austin explained a month ago. "Now, 31 is right down the road from me. That could be doable, but I don't see it happening. Now, Dallas, that could be very special going back to Texas for 32. They're going to need a loaded card to fill that house. So, I'll reserve my right."
