Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is plotting a surprise transfer window move for Hull City defender Andrew Robertson, according to reports.

The Daily Star, citing reports from The Sun, claims that the left-back has impressed Wenger with his recent performances - including the 2-2 draw the Gunners had with the Tigers yesterday - and that the Arsenal manager is keeping an eye on him ahead of a potential £10 million move.

The Scotland international has settled into life in the Premier League well following his big move from Dundee United in the summer, which cost Steve Bruce a poultry £2.85 million, and has now made three appearances for his country.

Arsenal move?

With the unconvincing Nacho Monreal acting as backup currently to Kieran Gibbs Arsenal could do with a player of Robertson’s obvious maturity, and the fact that he’s proven himself capable of adequately competing amongst the Premier League’s elite only stands to make a move all the more feasible.

Of course with Bruce having only recently signed him there’s little chance he’s going to want to entertain offers anytime soon, particularly given the fact that Hull are doing enough to keep themselves out of the relegation mire at the time being.

Their opening eight games have seen them record two wins and four draws, with only two defeats - against Manchester City and Aston Villa - being registered.

A deal feasible

However Hull chiefs may change their tact if Wenger comes in with a big offer, as the club would stand to make a handsome profit on Robertson if he moved on for the aforementioned sum of £10 million.

Varying reports have attempted to have a go at predicting how much money the Gunners have to spend in January, though it’s generally assumed that around £30 million will be at Wenger’s disposal.
