Finally, after years of ridicule, Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli can put the embarrassment of bib-gate behind him - he's beaten the bib!

Footage from the Liverpool Echo shows Balotelli lay those demons to rest, and as an added bonus, there's a new figure of bib-based fun in town. Liverpool strike partner Fabio Borini can be seen grappling with those awkward blue pull-overs. Oh Fabio.

As you can see in the video, which can be watched here, Balotelli is now a consummate pro - grabbing the pesky wear and slipping it swiftly over his head with the skill and grace you'd expect from a 23-year-old Italian that's lived in the fashion capital of Milan.

As for Borini. Poor Borini. He's not had the best of time at Liverpool since his move from Roma. The injuries, the loan spell, the public nature of his potential permanent move to Sunderland, his stubbornness to stay. And ultimately his limited impact on Brendan Rodgers' squad.

As Liverpool prepared for the visit of Real Madrid this evening, Rodgers put his side through their paces at Anfield.

Liverpool prepare for Madrid

Captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that the reigning European champions are unlikely to come to Merseyside with any real fear, even though their last trip ended in a humiliating 4-0 defeat to an inspired Reds team.

It's a very different squad now though, and Real Madrid come to town with Cristiano Ronaldo, the favourite for the 2014 Ballon d'Or, and a team bus full of Galacticos.

Liverpool have Rickie Lambert, playing League One football not too long ago, a striker in Balotelli experiencing an awkward goal drought and Borini, who can't dress himself.

Still, the game starts 0-0...
