Wesley Sneijder could still leave Galatasaray after the ongoing saga regarding his pay dispute with the club took a new twist, reports the Express.
It's been suggested that the Dutchman could be on the move, with the player set to earn less money than expected at the Turkish outfit because of tax reforms.
This news, then, will come as a blow to the player, who had previously not been paid for two months, with it now being suggested that he may well consider his future at the club once again.
And it appears that he could be reunited with former manager Louis van Gaal at Manchester United. The Red Devils have been linked with the playmaker for some time, but a move failed to materialise in the summer transfer window.
Sneijder, of course, played a key role under Van Gaal for the Dutch national side in the World Cup in Brazil, and may well relish the opportunity to finally prove himself in the Premier League.
The midfielder has enjoyed a fine career, having starred at the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan, so may look for one more top challenge in England's elite division.
Do they really need him?
In truth, though, it would come as a surprise if Manchester United opted to secure the player's services. Of course, there's the Van Gaal factor and the fact that he may well want to be reunited with one of his former players, but the club already have an array of attacking talent in the attacking department.
With the likes of Wayne Rooney, Adnan Januzaj, Juan Mata and Angel di Maria in the club's ranks, Sneijder may struggle to hold down a first-team spot.
United fans will, however, be hoping that the club invest in their back-line in the January transfer window, with the club in need of experienced additions. After losing the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Co. in the summer, the Red Devils have struggled to keep clean sheets this term.
