Tottenham playmaker Erik Lamela blew up Twitter with one of the best goals in the Europa League's history - and definitely a contender for goal of the season.

The Argentinian international scored an outrageous rabona goal from outside the box to put Spurs 2-0 up in their Europa League game against Asteras Tripolis on Thursday evening.

The Greek side's opposing goalkeeper didn't stand a chance as Lamela whipped his left foot behind his right and smashed the stunning strike into the top corner for one of the most incredible and skilful goals scored in 2014.

Harry Kane's opening goal on 13 minutes gave Spurs the lead, and it was a decent strike in its own right. But it will be completely overshadowed by Lamela's, which sent Twitter into meltdown almost as soon as it hit the back of the net.
