Atletico Madrid striker has revealed the reasons behind his decision to snub a move to the Premier League over the summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all previously linked with the Croatian international.
Mandzukic was made available by Bayern Munich over the summer after they landed Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund - and that sparked an almighty scrap for his services.
According to reports at the time, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal were all in for him, while he also had offers from all over Europe. However he opted to join Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid, who were in the market for a replacement after Diego Costa departed to join Chelsea, for £14 million.
He's started life in Spain well and has two goals from six La Liga games - but it could have been very different had he taken up one of the offers to head to the Premier League. However the Croatian insists he knew he had to take up the offer to play in Spain because the game in England wouldn't suit his style.
"There were calls from the UK that interested me, but I believe that their style of football is simply not my way" - Mario Mandzukic
"I had better offers than from Atletico,” he told Sportske novosti. “There were calls from the UK that interested me, but I believe that their style of football is simply not my way. There were also interest from Italy and some concrete offers from Russia.

"I'm very pleased with everything. I couldn't choose a better path after leaving Bayern Munich. The fans here accepted me immediately. Atletico was the best possible decision for me at this stage of my career.
The chance to work with Diego Simeone was also too good a chance to pass up for the 28-year-old. “Simeone was the key to me coming to Atletico," he said.
“His style and passion, with so much success, they are the things that inspire me. I love guys like him, he’s a real fighter, direct and transparent who is not fake and always says what he really thinks."
It seems Arsenal had the greatest need to sign Manzukic over the summer. The Gunners looked light up front, but opted to snap up Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona instead. Chelsea are now counting the cost of not adding more heavily to their attacking line with Costa and Loic Remy out injured for their clash against Manchester United today, leaving veteran Didier Drogba as his only senior forward.
Louis van Gaal has a potent attacking line at Manchester United, and added Radamel Falcao to his squad on deadline day.
