It's fair to say that Adelaide United star Awer Mabil had a mixed day as his side beat Perth Glory this past weekend.

The teenager, in fact, struck his side's second goal of the afternoon, but did spurn the opportunity to wrap up the game as he produced a contender for miss of the season.

In truth, it was quite the Australian side raced down the left-hand side of the pitch, Sergio Cirio squared the ball for Mabil to tap in from just a couple of yards out.

What was he doing?

However, instead of tapping the ball home, Mabil entered panic mode and opted to knee the ball into the open goal. Ultimately, it proved a disastrous decision as the ball sailed over the cross bar - to the amazement of the United faithful.

Clearly his body just didn't adjust in the way he had expected, meaning that the scoreline stayed at 2-0. The youngster will be relieved, however, that the miss didn't cost his side as they kept their lead in tact.
