Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has been omitted from the 23-man shortlist for the FIFA Ballon d'Or award - a result of his controversial bite on Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay at the World Cup this summer.

The list is without a single Englishman, but five Premier League players make the cut with Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois, Angel di Maria and Yaya Toure all nominated.
