LeBron James made his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers line-up for the first time since 2010 when they hosted the New York Knicks on Thursday night and it didn't take long for the King to start flexing in his hometown.

James was clearly in a very rare state of emotions on the court and struggled shooting the ball in his opener with the Cavaliers, but when the King was fouled on a fast break by Carmelo Anthony and still converted the basket, it gave him the opportunity to showboat to the adoring fans.

Midway through the first quarter, James had raced down the court before being dragged back by Anthony but the strength of LeBron is unmatched and he was able to spin and fire up the reverse lay-up.

The bucket from LeBron got everyone donning a Cleveland jersey pumped up, new teammate Kevin Love who had got off to a hot start was also feeling the fire.

LeBron James day?

Unfortunately for LeBron he missed the ensuing field goal and wasn't able to capitalise on the intensity built in Quicken Loans Arena.

It's easy to recognise why James may be so nervy on his return, its been built up so incredibly that he admitted at half time that the emotions will settle and he's looking forward to just playing some basketball in the second half.

Fans of the Cavaliers had built the day into a LeBron James love festival, they celebrated hours before the tip-off with a LeBron James Forgiveness Ceremony and supporters who were present at the arena were also gifted powder to throw when The King performed his pre-game chalk tossing ritual.
