Russell Westbrook had to leave the game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers with a hand injury and on the way to the locker room he got into a confrontation with a fan in the stands.

The feisty point guard was visibly upset after injuring his hand going for a rebound and as the Thunder superstar headed towards the tunnel, he took particular offence to the actions of one particular fan.

Its unclear as to whether something was thrown in his direction or whether he heard something that he particularly didn't like but the 25-year-old point guard had to be restrained by security when he angrily responded to the supporter.

The bigger concern to the already depleted Oklahoma City roster was that they were currently playing without reigning MVP Kevin Durant and in a contest with the highly thought of Clippers, fans watched Westbrook head to the changing rooms and not return.

It was initially reported that Westbrook would be questionable to return to the hardwood but after the interval, news came that the Thunder team would have to make do without their All-Star competitor.

NBA on ESPN were the first to report that the electrifying point guard would not make his return to the game when they tweeted:

Upon further inspection it seems that Westbrook had collided with his own teammate Kendrick Perkins whilst contesting a rebound, Westbrook continued to grimace whilst looking at his clenched right fist.

He had X-Rays conducted at the Staples Center but soon returned to the sideline with a bag of ice wrapped around his injured hand.

The Thunder were already without Kevin Durant, Reggie Jackson and Jeremy Lamb through injuries and the eight available players, who were considered role players come playoff time, had to battle with the Clippers for the rest of the contest.

Westbrook certainly isn't a player to hide his emotions and seeing him jawing with a fan is not a rare sight for NBA fans, check out the incident below.
