Another Spaniard that could be given the chance to manage Manchester City is the likeable Roberto Martinez.
The Everton boss has impressed many since making the step up from Wigan, and one more season on Merseyside could be enough to prepare him for life at the very top.
Unlike Guardiola and Vieira, Martinez is not a world renowned figure in football, but his attacking style of play would certainly make people take notice.
You can understand why City fans would demand a bigger name than Martinez, but with the likes of Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini having been unable to provide Champions League success, maybe it's time the club gave an up and coming manager a chance.
The last time a Manchester club poached a manager from Everton it ended disastrously for Manchester United and David Moyes, but that shouldn't stop City casting an eye on Martinez.
