Barcelona based Spanish newspaper Sport have claimed that FC Barcelona have received offers from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United for star man Gerard Pique, as relayed by the daily mail.

Chelsea and United interest

The tabloid reveals that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants to replace the ageing John Terry and has identified Pique as one of his prime targets. Chelsea and both Manchester clubs have submitted offers ranging from €25 to €30 million (£20-£24m) for the Spanish international.

Mourinho successfully lured another Catalan Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona this summer and would be hoping for the same with Pique.

City desire

City meanwhile want to sign Pique as early as January, claims the paper, having missed out on his signature in this summer's transfer window. Manager Manuel Pellegrini is believed to be a big fan of Pique and wants to build a strong defensive unit at the Etihad even after signing French centre back Eliaquim Mangala from Portuguese side FC Porto this summer.

Manchester United meanwhile continue to struggle with their defensive injuries. Defenders Phil Jones and Jonny Evans are still on the sick bed as the Red Devils are marked with yet another injury crisis at the back.

New manager Louis van Gaal wants to add a strong and steady centre back at the back and given Pique's experience at the top level, the Dutchman believes he will be a great fit at Old Trafford.

Pique of course is no stranger to the Premier League from his time with United in the past. A former La Masia graduate, the Spaniard made his professional debut as a United player after coming through their youth ranks.

The 27-year-old spent five years with United making numerous appearances in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
